PSYLOCKE: A New Solo Series Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con

Just now at the Marvel Comics: X-Men: From the Ashes Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, and various X-Men creators shared exciting news about the future of X-Men comics. One major highlight was the announcement of an all-new solo ongoing series: PSYLOCKE!

Launching in November, PSYLOCKE will be penned by Alyssa Wong, acclaimed for their work on STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA and DEADPOOL, with artwork by rising star Vincenzo Carratù, known for his dynamic illustrations in DRACULA: BLOOD HUNT.

The PSYLOCKE series will be tied to the current status quo established in Jed Mackay and Ryan Stegman’s X-MEN #1, where Psylocke supports Cyclops’ team of X-Men based in Alaska. However, there are missions too sensitive for the team, requiring Psylocke to rely on the darker aspects of her past.

After adopting the mantle of Psylocke, Kwannon became a standout character in titles like HELLIONS and UNCANNY AVENGERS. Now, the telepathic and telekinetic ninja will star in her own series! Her new adventures will feature her lover Greycrow, delve into her harsh training with the Hand, and introduce a new villain called the Taxonomist.

Trained to be an assassin from birth, Kwannon chose the path of an X-Man. But some tasks are too grim for the X-Men, and some journeys must be taken alone.

When a mission turns brutal, Psylocke unleashes her deadly skills to protect mutants. Springing from the pages of X-MEN, join Psylocke as she navigates the darker corners of the Marvel Universe, carving out her own space in a world that prefers to see her controlled.

“Everything in her history points her to the path of a villain,” Wong explained. “Her background is filled with tragedy—so why does she choose to be a hero?”

“This is a dark, emotional character story,” Wong continued. “But it will also be a lot of fun. I’m excited to delve into something super dark.”
