Trisha Paytas Takes on Broadway with One-Night-Only Show

Trisha Paytas is stepping into the spotlight on Broadway! Fresh off her Saturday Night Live cameo and a successful holiday tour, the 36-year-old internet personality and host of the Just Trish podcast is set to perform a one-night-only variety show titled Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream. The show will take place at the iconic St. James Theatre in New York City on Monday, February 3.

“I’m absolutely floored,” Paytas shared with PEOPLE about the announcement, which she revealed during her “Trishmas Live” show at the Beacon Theatre on December 9. The production, helmed by Kobi Kassal and George Strus, came to life after an April Fool’s Day joke earlier this year. Kassal’s site, Theatrely, humorously claimed Paytas was cast as Roxie Hart in Chicago, sparking excitement among fans.

“I knew it wasn’t real because no one approached me,” Paytas recounted, “but people were so happy for me. I thought, ‘Wow, this is wild.’” The buzz caught the attention of Kassal and Strus, who decided to turn the joke into reality. “They told me, ‘We’re actually going to do it.’ And before I knew it, we had a date and a venue. It still feels surreal.”

For Paytas, this is more than just a performance—it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Inspired by Donny Osmond’s performance in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as a child, Paytas always dreamed of the stage. Though her school theater days were limited to ensemble roles in productions like Annie and The Music Man, she never stopped dreaming. Over the years, she created musical theater-inspired videos, where she performed songs like “Don’t Forget Me” from Smash and recreated scenes from shows like Little Shop of Horrors and Beetlejuice.

“I really believed those videos might lead to something,” Paytas admitted. “It probably sounded delusional to some people, especially since I’m not formally trained. But what I lack in talent, I make up for with passion.”

Though she’s entering uncharted territory, Paytas is ready to give it her all. She’s begun preparing with vocal lessons and hinted that the show will feature a full ensemble, theatrical tricks, and plenty of spectacle. “This is going to be a huge production,” she said. “It’s bigger than life.”

Beyond realizing her own dreams, Paytas is excited to share the moment with her family. Her two-year-old daughter, Malibu Barbie, and her baby son, Elvis, will get to see her take center stage. “Malibu loves singing, so I hope one day she’ll think this is cool,” Paytas said. “I want to show her—and everyone—that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, you can make your dreams happen.”

Paytas’ journey hasn’t always been smooth. Known in the past for controversial and attention-seeking behavior, she’s recently focused on personal growth, mental health, and leaving behind the drama of her earlier internet fame. “Having my daughter changed everything for me,” Paytas reflected. “I wanted to be better for her—to be someone she could be proud of.”

Now, Paytas is embracing a new chapter in her career, having signed with talent agency CAA earlier this year. “For a long time, I thought negativity was the only way to get attention. But I’ve had more success now by just being myself,” she said.

As for what’s next, Paytas isn’t ruling anything out. “If this is my only Broadway moment, I’ll be happy. But I’d love to do more—maybe even a movie musical. If they bring back Joseph, I’d love to be a part of it.”

Tickets for Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream go on sale December 13, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Entertainment Community Fund. Fans can also watch via a live-stream option.
