Ariana Grande Talks Touring Break and Focus on Acting Ahead of Wicked 2 Release

Ariana Grande won’t be touring in 2025

Ariana Grande isn’t bidding farewell to touring forever—she’s just taking a break for now. In a recent interview with Variety published on December 17, the singer and actress, who is currently starring as Glinda in the Wicked films, discussed her future touring plans, specifically regarding her upcoming album Eternal Sunshine.

Grande, 31, expressed her gratitude for the acting opportunities she has right now and explained that while music will always be a part of her life, she doesn’t foresee a tour happening anytime soon. “I feel so grateful to the acting, and I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don’t see it coming anytime soon,” she said.

Looking ahead, Grande is excited to focus on her acting career in the next few years, particularly with the upcoming release of Wicked 2: For Good, set for 2025. She said, “The next few years, hopefully we’ll be exploring different forms of art, and I think acting is feeling like home right now.”

While her fans may be eager for new music and a potential tour, Grande reassured them that her music career isn’t over. She added, “I am appreciative for [my fans’] understanding. I’m so grateful for the ways in which we’ve grown together over this whole journey with Wicked. But music will always be a part of my life.” Grande’s fans have followed her career across various music genres, and her time in the spotlight has included blockbuster albums like Sweetener and Thank U, Next, alongside her acting role as Glinda.

Grande also joked about her touring future, saying, “I’ll perform at my mother’s house,” suggesting that while a full tour isn’t in the cards right now, she still finds ways to connect with her fans.

The talk of touring in 2025 was fueled by some confusion earlier this month when events related to the singer appeared on Ticketmaster’s website. However, her record label, Republic Records, swiftly clarified the situation, reassuring fans that there were no confirmed plans for a tour. “There are no plans for a tour next year, but Ariana remains deeply appreciative of her fans and all their continued love, support, and excitement,” the label wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Earlier this year, Grande had hinted at the possibility of performing between the two Wicked movies. In an interview on the Shut Up Evan podcast in July, she said, “I think it would be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle in some shows in between the two Wicked films.”

It’s been five years since Grande last toured. Her Sweetener World Tour in 2019 was a massive success, supporting her albums Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019). Since then, she’s been focused on acting, taking on major roles, including her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked.

Although a full-fledged tour isn’t on the horizon for now, Grande’s fans can still look forward to her acting work in Wicked and her future music releases. Whether or not she decides to tour again soon, music and performance will always be part of who she is.
