Actress Chanel Maya Banks Found Safe, Family Expresses Doubts
Los Angeles actress Chanel Maya Banks, reported missing since Oct. 30, has been located and is safe, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, as reported by ABC News. Banks, known for roles in shows like Gossip Girl and Blue Bloods, was confirmed unharmed, and the LAPD indicated there was no suspicion of foul play. However, some family members remain doubtful.
Messages posted on social media under Banks’ name stated she was not missing and alleged familial abuse, adding that she left voluntarily to “escape my cage.” Despite this, Banks’ cousin Danielle-Tori Singh expressed skepticism, labeling the news as “fake” and continuing to distribute missing person flyers.
Earlier, Singh reported a tip had led Texas authorities to a woman who identified herself as Banks. Although police provided body camera footage, Singh asserted that the individual did not resemble Banks as seen in a recent FaceTime call.
Banks’ family became increasingly concerned after not hearing from her since late October, with relatives conducting welfare checks and finding her belongings and pet left behind in her home. Singh, who traveled from Toronto to aid in the search, noted that the lack of communication was unusual, as Banks regularly kept in touch. Singh described Banks as “more like a big sister” and emphasized that going several days without contact raised serious concern.
A statement from Banks’ Instagram account contradicted Singh’s statements, claiming, “I have not spoken to Danielle in over 15 years much less every day or 48 hours as they’ve perjured.” Singh, who had also mentioned a lack of cooperation from Banks’ husband, said he had been removing missing-person flyers and declined to assist the family or authorities.
According to Banks’ IMDb profile, she has acted under the name Chanel Farrell and has appeared in shows like Blue Bloods, Twelve, and Gossip Girl. Singh shared that Banks had shifted focus from acting to writing in recent years, and she remained convinced that “something is not right.”
