Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest Celebrate 40 Years of Marriage

Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest have reached an incredible milestone—40 years of marriage. On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the actress commemorated the occasion with a touching Instagram post.

The post featured a black-and-white throwback photo from their 1984 wedding, paired with a recent snapshot of the couple’s shadows holding hands, echoing the sentiment of their wedding day.

“40 years ago today, on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, Christopher and I got married,” wrote Curtis, 66. “We loved each other then, even though we barely knew one another. Today, we know each other deeply and still love each other.”

Reflecting on their journey together, Curtis shared how they’ve navigated life’s challenges, celebrated joys, and raised two daughters, Annie, 38, and Ruby, 28. “We’ve faced life’s twists and turns, embraced new careers, and supported each other through love and loss,” she added.

She ended her heartfelt tribute with a nod to their enduring connection: “We held hands that day as we walked back down the aisle, and we’re still holding hands today. That was the start of ‘my hand in yours’—our long and winding road.” Curtis accompanied the post with The Beatles’ classic, “The Long and Winding Road.”

Earlier this month, Curtis opened up about her marriage during a Dec. 12 appearance on the Today show. Speaking with host Hoda Kotb, she shared how their relationship has evolved over the years.

“Chris wasn’t a director when I married him, and I wasn’t a writer,” she explained. “We’ve both grown into these new roles, and we’ve grown together along the way.” She also credited Guest, 76, for bringing humor and joy to her life. “He still makes me laugh more than anyone else,” she said, adding with a smile, “and I think there’s probably something about me that he likes too.”

Their love story began in 1984 after just six months of dating. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Dec. 2, Curtis shared a sweet memory from the early days of their relationship.

She recalled finding the receipt for her engagement ring, purchased by Guest during a walk around New York City while he was working on Saturday Night Live. Speaking on a payphone—“the kind where you had to put quarters in”—Guest casually asked if she liked diamonds.

Curtis laughed as she recounted the story, explaining that Guest later proposed in a quiet, private moment during a visit to Los Angeles.

Four decades later, Curtis and Guest continue to inspire with their love, resilience, and shared journey.
