Jared Leto Cast as Skeletor in Live-Action Masters of the Universe Film
Jared Leto cast as Skeletor in “Masters of the Universe”
Jared Leto is taking on another iconic villain role, this time as Skeletor in the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film. Known for his portrayal of The Joker in Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Leto is set to bring his unique intensity to the skull-faced wizard, the sworn enemy of Prince Adam, also known as He-Man.
The movie, based on the beloved ’80s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and its popular toy line, stars Nicholas Galitzine as the heroic He-Man. Galitzine, 30, who played Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Blue, has been training rigorously for the role, showing off a more muscular physique in recent photos.
The cast also includes Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Skeletor’s loyal henchmen. Bjornsson, best known for his role as The Mountain in Game of Thrones, adds his towering presence to the ensemble. Alison Brie will play Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s cunning lieutenant, while Camila Mendes stars as Teela, one of He-Man’s closest allies. Idris Elba rounds out the cast as Man-at-Arms, Teela’s father and Prince Adam’s trusted mentor.
The film is directed by Travis Knight and produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Fans can expect to see it hit theaters on June 5, 2026. Nicholas Galitzine, thrilled to take on the legendary role, previously shared his excitement on social media, writing, “By the Power of Grayskull, I HAVE THE POWER,” referencing He-Man’s iconic catchphrase.
Though Jared Leto has yet to comment on his casting, anticipation is high for his take on the menacing Skeletor.
