Josh Allen recently shared the emotional and nerve-wracking experience of proposing to his fiancée, Hailee Steinfeld, in a Q&A for Steinfeld’s Beau Society newsletter. The Buffalo Bills quarterback reflected on the moments leading up to the big question, revealing that Steinfeld had humorously teased him that morning by asking, “Can we get married already?! What are you waiting for??!” Little did she know, Allen had a proposal planned for later that day.
In the newsletter, Allen admitted he was most nervous about keeping the proposal a surprise. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have others in your life keep secrets too,” he shared. Throughout the day, emotional moments almost gave him away, especially when certain songs triggered his excitement and tears as he thought about how special the moment would be.
On the big day, Allen expressed his feelings in a heartfelt speech, telling Steinfeld he couldn’t wait to start a family with her. “I said your full name, and I asked you very nicely. I said please,” he recalled, adding that the proposal went perfectly, with Steinfeld being genuinely surprised.
The couple, who announced their engagement on November 29 via Instagram, shared a romantic photo of Allen proposing beside a stunning floral display of pink and red roses near a body of water. They captioned the post simply with the proposal date, November 22.
Steinfeld, known for her role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, shared in the newsletter that the engagement still feels surreal. “All the happy tears have just barely dried,” she wrote, adding that every time they tell the story or say, “We’re engaged,” she gets emotional.
The couple, who first sparked dating rumors in May 2023, has not yet shared details about their wedding plans. A source close to them shared that their families are overjoyed, adding, “They’ve been head over heels from the start.”
