Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons recently reunited, delighting fans of The Big Bang Theory! On Saturday, Nov. 23, Cuoco shared on Instagram that she surprised Parsons backstage at his Broadway show Our Town in New York City. Alongside a photo of the pair hugging under a staircase, Cuoco wrote, “Go see Jim Parsons in @ourtownbroadway! It is beyond! I surprised him 🥹,” adding a “Reunited” GIF to capture the heartwarming moment.
Since The Big Bang Theory wrapped up its 12-season run in 2019, the cast has stayed close, reuniting for casual meetups and TV appearances. Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch recently appeared together in Night Court, while Bialik and Parsons joined forces for the series finale of Young Sheldon, the spinoff exploring Sheldon Cooper’s childhood in Texas.
While fans have expressed hopes for a reboot, Parsons has shared that he doesn’t currently see a return happening. Speaking on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, he explained, “It was so special as what it was. They call it lightning in a bottle for a reason… Why would we be doing it? I don’t know.” However, he left the door slightly ajar, saying, “I never say never to anything.”
Cuoco, on the other hand, has expressed enthusiasm about revisiting her role as Penny. “100%,” she said in a recent interview. Reflecting on her time on the show, Cuoco described it as a career-defining period filled with joy and gratitude, saying, “I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre. It was some of the best years of my life.”
In addition to Cuoco, Parsons, and Bialik, the show starred Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, and Johnny Galecki. Although Young Sheldon concluded earlier this year, the Big Bang Theory universe continues with a new spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which premiered in October.
