Return of No Doubt: A Nostalgic Night at Coachella

No Doubt reunites onstage at Coachella
No Doubt marked their return from a nine-year hiatus with an electrifying performance at Coachella’s main stage on Saturday night. Led by Gwen Stefani, the band delivered a nostalgic trip through their ’90s and ’00s hits like “Just a Girl,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Ex-Girlfriend.” Backed by a powerful brass ensemble, the group kicked off their set with “Hella Good” and delighted fans with lesser-known tracks such as “Happy Now?” and “Different People.”

A highlight of the night was Olivia Rodrigo joining the band for a lively rendition of “Bathwater” from their album Return of Saturn. Rodrigo, a self-proclaimed fan of Stefani’s songwriting, paid homage to the influence No Doubt had on her own music.

Stefani, reminiscent of her punk-rock persona, engaged in banter with founding bassist Tony Kanal, prompting the band to revisit old favorites from their Tragic Kingdom era. The performance included Stefani’s signature call-and-response interaction with the audience during “Just a Girl.”

While No Doubt members pursued solo projects and collaborations during their hiatus, their Coachella set focused exclusively on their own material. Closing their set with “Spiderwebs,” the band expressed gratitude to their fans for the enduring support.

The reunion at Coachella came as a surprise to many, considering the band’s prolonged absence from the stage. Whether this performance signals a more extensive reunion tour or remains a one-off event is yet to be determined. Nonetheless, Stefani expressed excitement about the possibility of future endeavors with the band.
