Spanish Fan Showcases Taylor Swift ‘Sanctuary’ Ahead of Madrid Gig
In Madrid, Roberto Santos, 55, stands out as a dedicated fan among Swifties, showcasing his decades-long devotion to Taylor Swift through an array of gifts he’s received from her team. His collection fills a room he fondly refers to as his sanctuary, boasting items such as Swift’s limited-edition platinum disk award, signed photos, recordings, and sneakers bearing both their names.
Reflecting on his passion, Santos admits to moments of introspection, where he finds solace in his collection, especially during sleepless nights. “For me, she means everything,” he shares, recalling his early support for Swift before her rise to fame. He humorously adds, “If I had the same intuition with the lottery, I’d be rich.”
Having attended Swift’s concert in Dublin in 2018, Santos holds the distinction of being the only person to have traveled twice from Spain for one of her shows. This dedication caught the attention of Swift’s management, who added Santos and his wife to an exclusive fan list, showering them with gifts and invitations, including an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles.
Despite his profound admiration, Santos remains grounded, attributing his mature and calm demeanor to his age. While he proudly displays Swift-themed tattoos, he has yet to meet her in person, as a planned encounter in Oslo was canceled due to the pandemic.
Santos expresses gratitude toward Swift and her team for acknowledging older fans and for the values she imparts through her art. Meanwhile, Swift’s Eras Tour continues to make waves, bolstering local economies such as in Madrid, where hotel occupancy rates surge during concert dates.
