Complete Casting Announced for European Premiere of ‘Red Speedo’
The complete casting has been confirmed for the European premiere of “Red Speedo.” Described as “thrilling and dangerous” by its New York reviewers during its 2016 Off-Broadway run, the play is written by Lucas Hnath, known for works like “A Doll’s House, Part 2.” “Red Speedo” centers on Ray, a swimmer on the verge of international fame and a lucrative sponsorship deal, whose dreams are jeopardized when performance-enhancing drugs are discovered in his club’s refrigerator.
Directed by Matthew Dunster (known for “2:22 A Ghost Story”), the creative team features designer Anna Fleischle, associate designer and costume designer Cat Fuller, lighting designer Sally Ferguson, sound designer Holly Khan, casting director Matilda James, fight director RC-Annie, and accent coach Aundrea Fudge.
Joining previously announced Finn Cole (from “Peaky Blinders” and “Animal Kingdom”), who will make his professional stage debut as Ray, the cast includes Fraser James (“The Seagull”) as Coach, Parker Lapaine (“House of the Dragon”) making her stage debut as Lydia, and Ciarán Owens (“Peaky Blinders,” “The Last Kingdom”) as Peter.
Co-produced by David Adkin, “Red Speedo” will officially open at Richmond’s Orange Tree Theatre on July 18, following previews starting on July 13, and will run until August 10.
