Nicola Peltz Beckham Files Lawsuit Against Dog Groomer for Negligence Leading to Pet’s Death

Nicola Peltz Beckham has filed a lawsuit against her dog’s groomer, alleging negligence that led to the tragic death of her pet. On July 30, she filed a complaint in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of Westchester, against Jony Ceballos, Deborah “Deb” Gittleman, and HoundSpa LLC, according to PEOPLE.

In the obtained document, Nicola claimed that groomer Ceballos’ “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs” resulted in the death of Nala, which she and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, announced on Instagram.

She accused Gittleman, the owner of HoundSpa, and his staff of “reckless and malicious conduct” for retaining Ceballos despite a “history of complaints” about him mistreating and torturing animals.

The lawsuit stated that Nala died two hours after a grooming session on June 15th, with Nicola noting that Nala went in as a “happy, healthy dog” but returned injured and in severe distress—breathing heavily and wheezing. After a 15-minute drive to the veterinarian, Nicola noted that Nala had a blue tongue, fluid in her lungs, and neurological damage.

“This case is about holding responsible those who abuse animals in their care and shedding light on the lack of protections for pet owners and their beloved dogs and pets,” the complaint stated.

Nicola expressed her continued shock and pain over Nala’s sudden passing after what should have been a routine grooming session.
