Maggie Baird Denies “Nepo Baby” Claims About Billie Eilish and Finneas
Billie Eilish’s mother, Maggie Baird, has refuted claims that her daughter is a “nepo baby” following a resurfaced clip of Baird in an episode of Friends that sparked online discussion. In an interview with Glamour magazine, Baird dismissed the idea that her children, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, found fame due to her and husband Patrick O’Connell’s acting careers.
Baird recalled that she landed the Friends role just to maintain her health insurance, emphasizing that she and her husband were working-class actors who led modest lives. She explained that they were not famous, but were content with their creative work. Baird highlighted the misconception people have about the entertainment industry, noting that many actors struggle while leading fulfilling lives despite not achieving mainstream fame.
Finneas had previously addressed similar claims in 2020, pointing out that their parents couldn’t financially support them through acting, as their father worked in construction, and their mother was a teacher. Despite their children’s success, Baird noted that the family remained grounded, with everyday life keeping them centered amid their fame.
Baird, who has appeared in shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Six Feet Under, stressed that their family’s closeness and normalcy have been key to navigating fame.
