Konami Announces Dance Dance Revolution WORLD Launch and Classic Mini Unit Release
Konami’s official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Dance Dance Revolution series announced on Monday that a major update titled Dance Dance Revolution WORLD will be launching in arcades on Wednesday, June 12 at 9:00 a.m. JST (June 11, 8:00 p.m. EDT). This update is set to be rolled out globally. A dedicated website for the new version also went live on Monday, with some sections still marked as “coming soon.”
Dance Dance Revolution WORLD will allow players to transfer data from Dance Dance Revolution A3, including dancer names, affiliated areas, playing records (excluding Ghost, final playing time, and course play results), song unlock status, selected optional settings, set weight, and calorie display on game consoles, along with song pack pre-play bonuses.
The original Dance Dance Revolution game debuted in Japanese arcades in 1998. To celebrate the game’s 25th anniversary, Konami collaborated with Zuiki Inc. on a crowdfunding campaign for the Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini unit, which ran from October 10 to January 26 and raised 81 million yen. Zuiki announced on April 26 that the Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini unit will be publicly released on September 27.
