Dawn Richard Accuses Sean “Diddy” Combs of Abuse and Intimidation in Lawsuit

Latest posts from Dawn Richard

Dawn Richard, formerly a member of two musical groups formed by Sean “Diddy” Combs, has expressed deep fear of the music mogul, according to her attorney, Lisa Bloom. Richard filed a lawsuit against Combs in September, accusing him of sexual abuse. She also alleges she witnessed him physically assault his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Currently, Combs is detained in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, facing charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution. His legal team recently made a third request for his release on bail, with a decision expected next week.

In an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight on November 21, Bloom detailed Richard’s claims, including allegations that Combs groped and sexually assaulted her, withheld promised payments, and subjected her to harsh treatment such as depriving her of food and sleep. Richard also reportedly witnessed what Bloom described as “severe acts of violence” by Combs toward Ventura and other women.

Combs has denied the allegations, with his attorney, Erica Wolff, stating the lawsuit is based on “manufactured claims” aimed at securing financial gain. Wolff expressed Combs’ “shock and disappointment” over the accusations.

Bloom further alleged that Richard was threatened with physical violence when she attempted to confront Combs. She described the environment as violent and tumultuous, driven by what she characterized as Combs’ “vicious temper.”

Bloom also revealed she is representing another individual with claims against Combs related to his alleged “freak-off” parties, where sex workers were reportedly coerced into participating in sexual acts. She stated that other allegations include accounts of individuals being drugged and pressured into sexual activity to secure business deals with Combs.

Richard rose to fame as a member of Danity Kane, a girl group created on MTV’s Making the Band in 2005. She later joined Combs and Kalenna Harper to form Diddy Dirty Money in 2010, a group that disbanded two years later. Combs has also denied accusations of witness tampering involving Harper, with Wolff describing differing accounts of events as “divergent recollections.”

Rebecca Yarros Speaks Out Against Book Censorship

Rebecca Yarros, bestselling author of 25 books, including the wildly popular Fourth Wing, is a firm believer in free access to books and open discussions about content. Despite facing challenges like social media backlash and even death threats that forced her family to move, Yarros, 43, remains steadfast in her stance against censorship and book bans.

With her husband Jason, 44, she is raising six children, aged 11 to 27. Yarros acknowledges the difficulty of keeping tabs on everything her kids consume. “Anyone who says they know exactly what their teenager is doing is either lying or in denial,” she told PEOPLE. She stresses the importance of striking a balance between parental guidance and respecting her children’s autonomy. “At some point, you have to say, ‘We’ve raised this human, and they are a person with their own boundaries, thoughts, and feelings.’ Whether or not they align with mine, they have a right to explore certain content.”

In her household, open conversations about social media, books, and the messages they carry are a priority. Yarros emphasizes the importance of critically discussing media rather than banning it. “We talk a lot about censorship here,” she says. “I’ve always believed that if you have an issue with what your kid is reading, you should read it with them and have a conversation about it.”

She also defers to professionals when it comes to determining what belongs in libraries and classrooms, saying, “I’m not a librarian. I don’t have that expertise.” She firmly believes that no one should dictate what other people’s children can access, adding, “Free access to information is always the best choice.”

Yarros’ hit novel Fourth Wing, which sold over 2 million copies and became a social media sensation in 2023, brought her into the spotlight not only as an author but also as a voice for readers’ rights. Despite the controversies, Yarros continues to advocate for open-mindedness and meaningful dialogue about literature.

Gladiator II: A Spectacle-Filled Return to the Arena

Gladiator II: A Spectacle-Filled Return to the Arena

It’s been nearly 25 years since Ridley Scott redefined the sword-and-sandal genre with Gladiator, the 2000 epic that captured audiences worldwide. Starring Russell Crowe as the stoic and heroic Maximus, the original film was a cinematic triumph, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe.

While Crowe’s Maximus does not return in Gladiator II—his character met a tragic end in the first film—his legacy casts a long shadow. This much-anticipated sequel shifts the spotlight to Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Lucilla (played once again by Connie Nielsen). Lucius, now grown, finds himself walking a path reminiscent of his late father’s, forced into slavery and rising to prominence as a gladiator.

Director Ridley Scott raises the stakes with a grander scope and a cast stacked with talent. Denzel Washington stands out as Macrinus, a power-hungry social climber whose machinations are pivotal to the unfolding drama. Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger deliver chilling performances as Geta and Caracalla, twin emperors whose rule plunges Rome into deeper darkness. Scott’s portrayal of the Eternal City this time is grittier and more oppressive, reflecting the tension brewing within the crumbling Senate.

The action sequences are even more ambitious than those in the original film. Where Maximus faced tigers in the Colosseum, this sequel introduces more elaborate and diverse battles, including confrontations with rhinos, baboons, and even sharks. The opening scene, an aquatic battle, is among the most visually stunning set pieces Scott has ever crafted.

Though Gladiator II doesn’t quite match the emotional depth of its predecessor, it compensates with breathtaking spectacle and riveting performances. Fans of epic historical dramas will undoubtedly find much to admire in this thrilling continuation of the story.

Ana de Armas has a new romance!

The Eden star, 36, was recently seen enjoying a stroll in Madrid, Spain, with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. On Nov. 21, the pair were photographed walking side by side before sharing a kiss.

De Armas previously dated Deep Water co-star Ben Affleck, with whom she was first linked in early 2020 while filming the movie. The couple ended their relationship in January 2021. At the time, a source described the breakup as “mutual and completely amicable,” adding that their lifestyles made the relationship challenging. De Armas, who moved to Vermont after living in Los Angeles for several years, has since described her new home as a place where she can “collect” herself and stay “off the grid.”

Reflecting on life changes in a September interview with E! News, she shared, “There’s a time when you learn what’s good for you and what’s not. Pay attention to that and take action.”

Following her split from Affleck, de Armas was linked to Tinder executive Paul Boukadakis in mid-2021, and the two were seen together in New York City.

Up next, de Armas will star as assassin Eve Macarro in Ballerina: From the World of John Wick, set to release on June 6, 2025.

Sarah Catherine Hook Embraces Reimagining Cruel Intentions for a New Generation

Sarah Catherine Hook Embraces Reimagining Cruel Intentions for a New Generation

More than 25 years after Cruel Intentions made waves with its daring and provocative storyline, the tale is being reimagined for a new audience in a Prime Video series. While the new cast pays homage to the original, they acknowledge that the stars of the 1999 film might not be rushing to watch.

“I understand if they don’t [watch],” says Sarah Catherine Hook, who steps into Sarah Michelle Gellar’s iconic role as a scheming socialite using her step-brother’s desires to her advantage. “That might be a little weird for them,” she admits, adding with a smile, “We’ll see.”

For Hook, the opportunity to reimagine such a well-loved story is a privilege. “It’s such an honor to be part of this,” she shares. “I’ve loved this movie for so long. My best friend and I watched it together growing up—it was one of our favorites.”

Hook first saw the film in middle school. “I think I was in seventh grade, which was way too young,” she recalls with a laugh. “I watched it with these older, cooler girls, which felt like the perfect introduction. I was just this awkward seventh grader with braces, going through puberty, and it left a big impression.”

Despite the legacy of the original, Hook says the reboot team encouraged individuality. “The showrunners gave us creative freedom and didn’t want us to simply replicate what had already been done. That made a huge difference,” she explains. “Honestly, I was just so excited to be part of it because I’ve loved it for so long.”

Recreating the intense and twisted chemistry between Gellar and Ryan Phillippe’s characters as Kathryn and Sebastian was a highlight for Hook, who stars alongside Zac Burgess as her step-brother, Lucien. “It’s so deliciously messed up,” she says. “There’s something thrilling about diving into a story like this—it’s unlike anything else we get to do as actors.”

Looking ahead, Hook hopes the series continues and even dreams of a crossover with the original cast. “If we get more seasons, it would be amazing to see some of the original stars make cameos,” she says. “That would be so, so great.”

In the meantime, Hook is savoring the chance to bring a fresh perspective to a beloved classic, blending nostalgia with a modern twist.

John Stamos Addresses Criticism of Supportive Tribute to Dave Coulier

John Stamos has addressed the backlash surrounding his tribute to his Full House co-star and close friend, Dave Coulier, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. In an interview with TMZ on Nov. 21, Stamos shared his perspective on the situation, reflecting on his intentions and the criticism he received.

Stamos revealed that he flew across the country to support Coulier during this challenging time. “I flew across the country to be with my brother, right?” he explained. While en route, Stamos learned of the sudden passing of his childhood best friend, Mike Owen, from a heart attack. Despite his grief, he focused on being strong for Coulier, keeping his emotions private to avoid adding to his friend’s stress.

Once reunited, Stamos surprised Coulier with a bald cap, as a gesture of solidarity. “He wanted me to come shave his head,” Stamos said, adding that he brought the bald cap because he couldn’t cut his own hair due to commitments for his new show. The gesture was intended to bring humor to a tough situation. “We laughed so freaking hard,” he shared, recounting how they found joy in the moment despite the circumstances.

Addressing the online negativity that followed his Nov. 18 Instagram post showing Coulier with his shaved head, Stamos said he was puzzled and hurt by the backlash. “When I started seeing this blowback, I’m just like, ‘What?’ I still don’t know 100% [why],” he admitted. Stamos emphasized that his intention was to uplift his friend, not to provoke criticism. He also urged people to focus on their health instead of engaging in negativity. “They should call their doctor, make an appointment. That’s the whole point of this. It’s been Dave’s message.”

Coulier himself defended Stamos in a Nov. 19 Instagram post, stating, “John knows how to cheer me up, and I laughed out loud when he arrived wearing a bald cap.” Coulier added that humor remains a vital part of his life, even during this difficult period.

Reflecting on the visit, Stamos described it as “incredible,” sharing that the two spent time laughing, crying, watching old movies, and reminiscing. Despite the online criticism, Stamos stood by his actions. “I’m not sorry,” he concluded. “All I was doing was cheering up a friend.”

Their bond and humor remain a source of strength, as both actors continue to support each other through life’s challenges.

Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev settle divorce

Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia have officially finalized their divorce. According to a statement shared with PEOPLE by Garcia’s representative, the former couple resolved their differences through private mediation, avoiding court proceedings.

While specific details of the settlement remain private, it was confirmed that both parties agreed to withdraw their respective domestic violence restraining orders to focus on moving forward and co-parenting their son. “Nikki’s priority has always been her son and maintaining privacy throughout this process,” the representative said. “She appreciates the support she has received during this challenging time.”

PEOPLE has reached out to Chigvintsev’s team for further comment.

The divorce follows months of legal and personal disputes. Garcia, 40, filed for divorce on September 11, shortly after Chigvintsev’s arrest on August 29 for suspected domestic violence. However, the Napa County District Attorney later declined to press charges. In her filing, Garcia sought sole legal and physical custody of their son Matteo, with supervised visitation for Chigvintsev. She also requested the termination of spousal support for both parties. Conversely, Chigvintsev, 42, responded by requesting joint custody, spousal support, and coverage of his legal fees.

The situation escalated with mutual allegations of aggression. According to court documents, a dispute on August 29 began in the kitchen while Chigvintsev was making breakfast for their son and continued upstairs. Garcia alleged that Chigvintsev tackled her, pinned her to the ground, and applied pressure near her chest, causing her to feel suffocated. Meanwhile, Chigvintsev claimed Garcia was the aggressor, providing photos of injuries he allegedly sustained. Both parties described the incident as a physical altercation that left them on the ground.

Restraining orders were temporarily granted to both Garcia and Chigvintsev in late September and early October. However, both orders were dropped as part of the final settlement, with the couple prioritizing their roles as co-parents moving forward.
